Thin Shock-Layer Theory Revisited
نویسنده
چکیده
During the hypersonics activities of the 1960s, thin shock-layer theory was developed as a rst-order correction to Newtonian theory, in the hope of gaining insight into eÆcient lift at very high speeds. The wings are limited to conical geometry, but can have arbitrary transverse camber. Good predictions were made of the forces generated by delta and caret wings, but no optimization studies were carried out. This paper collects together some old results, including some that were not widely published, establishes a parameter that measures hypersonic lifting eÆciency, and presents a wing design that achieves a very high value of that parameter.

Numerical Simulation of Shock-Wave/Boundary/Layer Interactions in a Hypersonic Compression Corner Flow
Numerical results are presented for the shock-boundary layer interactions in a hypersonic flow over a sharp leading edge compression corner. In this study, a second- order Godunov type scheme based on solving a Generalized Riemann Problem (GRP) at each cell interface is used to solve thin shear layer approximation of laminar Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations. The calculated flow-field shows general...
متن کاملScientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations
The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

In this paper a simple model calculation of spin wave is given for the ferromagtic layer in ultra thin ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic bilayer. In this model the magnetic layer is assumed as an isolated layer but the effect of antiferromagnetic layer on ferromagnetic layer and unidirectional anisotropy, is given in the effective field applied on each spin. The thin layer is assumed as two-dim...

Three equilibrium-air numerical solutions are presented for the Reentry-F ight-test vehicle at Mach 20, 80,000 ft. conditions, including turbulent t o w predictions. The three solutions are from a thin-layer Navier-Stokes code, coupled thin-layer and parabolized Navier-Stokes codes, and an approximate viscous shock-layer code. Boundary-layer and shock-layer prooles are presented and compared be...
